Privacy Policy

Introduction

The International Centre of Humanity (“ICH”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data and ensuring it is handled with the highest standards of accountability and transparency. We comply fully with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable privacy laws in the Netherlands and across the European Economic Area (EEA).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, transfer, and protect your personal data, and sets out your rights in relation to the information we hold about you.

Data We Collect

We collect only the information necessary for clearly stated purposes and process it lawfully. Refined Section Snippet: The personal data we may collect includes your name, country, email address, date of birth, and your institution, university, or organisation. When subscribing to our newsletter, we typically require only your email address. Other information is optional or collected specifically for course enrollment, donations, or other distinct services. We may also collect data related to your interaction with our communications, such as open rates and link clicks, to improve the relevance of our content. The extent of data collection depends on the purpose of data collection. When you carry out payment transactions on the website, we also collect your banking or card details via secure payment gateways.

Data is collected only when you choose to enroll in a course, subscribe to our newsletters and community updates, or offer donations and other material support to our work.

Purpose of Collection

Lawful Basis for Processing: We process your personal data solely for the purposes for which it was collected and will not use it for unrelated activities. The lawful bases for processing your data include:

  • Consent: For sending you our newsletter, community updates, and marketing communications where you have given your explicit consent.
  • Performance of a Contract: For processing your course enrollment or donation payments.
  • Legitimate Interests: Such as maintaining the security of our website, preventing fraud, and conducting internal administrative purposes, provided these interests do not override your rights.
  • Compliance with Legal Obligations: Where we are required by law to process your data.

Data Storage and Transfers

Data Storage and Transfers In certain circumstances, your personal data may be transferred and stored outside the European Economic Area (EEA), such as with our third-party email service provider. Such transfers will occur exclusively between ICH and authorised ICH affiliate personnel and only for the purpose for which the data was originally collected. We will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place so that your data receives the same level of protection as required under GDPR, such as through the use of Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or by transferring to recipients in countries deemed adequate by the European Commission.

Your Right under GDPR

You have the right to access the information we hold about you, the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data, the right to request deletion of your data, the right to restrict or object to its processing, the right to request the transfer of your data to another organisation, and the right to withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

You can exercise any of these rights by contacting us at admin@ichumanity.org.

Data Retention

We retain your data only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. For personal data collected based on consent (e.g., newsletter subscription), we will retain your email address until you withdraw your consent (unsubscribe) or for a period of [e.g., 2 years] of inactivity, after which we will delete or anonymise it.

Data Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously and apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. Payments for courses, donations, and other contributions are processed via secure third-party payment providers, and we do not store your full payment card details on our systems.

Policy Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in our operations, services, or legal requirements. Any updates will be published on our website, and the effective date at the top of this policy will be updated accordingly.
